Venue
4IWICH will be held in Gran Hotel Pucón, located in the southern city of Pucón, IX Region, Chile.
Registration
US$250; Student: US$100. Registration is waived for invited speakers
How to get there
International travelers arriving at Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago should walk to the National terminal for a connecting fly to Temuco (see schedule of flies in http://www.lan.com/). At Temuco airport, transfers and taxis will be available for transportation to Pucón. The trip from Temuco airport to Pucón (about 100 Km) take 90 min.
The hotel
Gran Hotel Pucón Resort & Club is located in the Shore of Villarrica Lake at about 19 Km from the imposing volcano Villarica. Recreational facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna and fitness center. Electricity
Voltage in Chile is 220V. Electricity Plugs have two pins as pictured.
Internet Access
The Gran Hotel Pucón offers free Wi-Fi access in the common spaces.
Meals
Breakfast and lunch will be at the hotel, buffet style. The location for dinner will be left for you to decide. Pucón has a wide arrangement of meat and seafood restaurants.
- Breakfast will be available from 7:30 a.m. on.
- Lunch will be served at 13:00 p.m.
After dinner, a bar, a covered swimming pool and outdoor tables will be available for informal discussions.
Science Sessions
Lectures are to be held in Salon Llaima. Please wear name badges at all times. Guests are not permitted to attend the sessions.
Speakers
The AV Technician will be available in Salon Llaima. Ten minutes prior the start of each session to assist Speakers with laptop setup, equipment checks, and a brief run through of presentations. Speakers are encouraged to bring two USB flash drives/memory sticks and transfer their data onto Workshop Laptop or Apple Mac Notebook (we will have both) rather than load their presentations and present their slides from their personal laptops.
Posters
Posters will be set up in the same room where talks will be presented. There will be no poster boards. However, we ask you to prepare your poster in a portrait format, with the size of 90 cm wide by 150 cm high. We will provide tape to attach posters to the walls. Check the program for the poster session schedule. All posters can be set up on Sunday evening and have to be removed Tuesday by 17:00 p.m.
Social Activity
A half-day trip to Termas de Huife is programmed for Friday the 2nd. The thermals have 3 outdoor swimming pools with water at different temperatures. For more information seehttp://www.termashuife.com/
Check-out
Please plan to vacate your room no later than 12:00 a.m. on Saturday December the 3th. All international guests will be asked to pay for their hotel expenses at check-out time.
Changing Money
We advise you to change some money at Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Santiago. You can get Chilean currency for ATMs, widely available in Pucón, including at the Hotel.
What to Pack
Umbrella, electrical conversion plug for foreign travel, alarm clock, swimming suit, T-shirts, sandals, sweatshirt or light jacket (for cool evenings). Weather should be warm during the day and cold by night. Be prepared to have temperatures on the 10-28 Celsius degree interval.
